Cydeways has a great reggae rock groove. They are all solid on their instruments and the lead singer, Dustin Park, has a great voice for reggae. They are from Santa Barbara, California.
Midway into their set, they play “Wasted Summer”. “We spent those nights drinking whiskey in the back of your car / We had the cops chasing us down Hollywood Boulevard”. This is such a fun song, and it has the whole crowd dancing and singing along.

The Holdup is up next. At one point, the lead singer gets a request for “We Party”. He says he doesn’t remember how to play this song, which was released in 2012. So, he looks up the chords online. He finds them, but then says they aren’t right. Then he looks up the song on Spotify and plays it on his phone. He messes around with the chords until he finally plays about 30 seconds of the song. He says that was the most he has played that song in 16 years. This whole scene gave the set an incredibly informal feel. It was like we were all just wasting time hanging out in the singer’s living room.
