Roc is trying to make it as a rapper. His cousin is his best friend and his hype man. A strip club owner lets him use his recording studio for free in exchange for him performing at the club. Roc meets a talent scout from New York who wants to fly him out to LA for a showcase at BET. Everything seems great, until cracks in the plan start to appear.

G. Riley Mills and Willie Round (also cowriters of Trial in the Delta – The Murder of Emmett Till) have written an excellent Chicago play about trying to make it in the music business. It’s filled with humor and great drama.
Willie Round is excellent as Mud, who has big dreams of stardom. DeMorris Burrows (Topdog / Underdog) is so funny as his sidekick, his ride or die. Simeon “Mr. Chicago” Henderson is superb as the club owner, who is all business and tough love. Carina Lastimosa (Friends with Guns) is stellar as the talent scout, whose intentions aren’t fully clear.

Overall, it’s a great production and a fantastic story that should not be missed!
