Review: Porchlight Music Theatre and Broadway in Chicago Present Titanique at Broadway Playhouse (Through July 13, 2025)

In a parody of Titanic, Celine Dion tells the story of the movie with songs. She has changed a lot of the plot and added a whole bunch of musical and movie references. For example, there are many jokes about the actor Victor Garber, who played the captain of the Titanic.

Many of the jokes are quite low brow. For example, when they say the ship is unsinkable, and then they say “foreshadowing!” Also, there is Rose telling Jack to get on the door, which clearly has room for 2 people. This article shows that it is highly unlikely they could both survive.

Eric Lewis (Understudy) (RentJersey Boys) is excellent as the Iceberg, especially the first time he sings. Jackson Evans (Anything GoesThe Boys in the Band) is good as Victor Garber and Luigi. Clare Kennedy McLaughlin has some funny moments as Celine. Maya Rowe and Adam Fane (Jersey BoysInto the Woods) are solid as Rose and Jack. Adrian Aguilar (Jersey Boys) is funny as Rose’s fiancé, who is secretly on Grindr. Rob Lindley is hilarious as Rose’s mother, especially when slapping everyone in the band and receiving an Oscar.
