Australian Rock! Wolfmother at Thalia Hall (November 29, 2023)

Wolfmother kicks things off with a bang by playing “Dimension” from their self-titled 2006 album. “Then I let go of everything / Into another dimension.” The electric riffs do take you to another dimension.

They follow this up with the fantastic “New Moon Rising”  from 2009’s Cosmic Egg. The powerful guitar moves everyone in the audience to rock out with their hands in the air. The lead singer, Andrew Stockdale, says this is the last stop on their US tour, and he can already tell it’s going to be a great one in Chicago.

Next up is the excellent “Woman”. “She’s a woman / You know what I mean / You better listen / Listen to me, yeah / She’s gonna set you free / Oh yeah”. The guitar playing on this song is incredible.

The beautiful “White Unicorn” follows. This one definitely reveals their Led Zeppelin influence. Stockdale says that they saw their Spotify Wrapped report today and that the number one place for Wolfmother listeners is the US. “I guess we are in the right place”, he says. They are very proud of this success, since they hail from Sydney, Australia.

Midway into the set, they play their new track, “Stay A Little Longer”. It’s a rocker that shows they are still writing great songs.

Towards the end of the night, they play “Victorious”. It’s a fantastic moment as the entire venue shouts “She will be victorious!”

To close out the set, they play the epic “Joker And The Thief”. This is a fantastic arena rocker that shares a similar sound with The White Stripes. This is their most popular song on Spotify with over 283 million streams.
